How does Allah protect the Quran and why didn’t he protect the other books?
⬇️
Around 14 centuries ago, this was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):
“But this is an honored Qur’an [Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.”
(Quran, Surat Al-Buruj 85:21–22)
“Rather, the Qur’an is distinct verses [preserved] within the breasts of those who have been given knowledge. And none reject Our verses except the wrongdoers.”
(Quran, Surat Al-’Ankabut 29:49)
(
And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.
(Quran, Surat Al-Ma’eda 5:48)
(
Now, if you want to know how Allah has protected the Quran for all these centuries, all you have to do is simply this:
- Look at the different copies from countries all over the world and compare them to each other and to the oldest manuscripts, like this one for instance Birmingham Quran manuscript – Wikipedia. 100% Identical!
Even hostile critics of Islam have grudgingly vouched for the purity of the Holy Quran: “There is probably in the world no other book which has remained twelve centuries (now fourteen) with so pure a text.” — (Sir William Muir)
- See all the amazing number of people of all ages and colors who memorize the Quran from countries all over the world (even the non-Arabic speaking)!
Now, the second part of the question, “Why didn’t He protect the other books?”
First, we have to know the Islamic view of this life. We are in this worldly life for a limited time in a test. Then, everybody will be judged before God and according to their beliefs and deeds the evil will be destined to torment, and the good will be destined to Paradise.
In the past, God sent Prophets exclusive to their specific nations as guidance. Moses and Jesus for instance were sent to Children of Israel. Some of the Prophets were sent with scripts. However, it was the duty of the people to protect and keep the script from corruption. It was part of the test.
Now that God has sent the last Prophet to all nations with the Quran, it had to be protected and kept by His divine capability.
Moreover, the previous nations’ legislation had slight differences suitable to their time. The doctrine indeed remained unchanged though.
